The Perfume Collection

Mommy loved the exotic, flowery, and alluring fragrance of perfumes. Dad, on every trip he went to, always brought Mom a favorite or new scent. Mom's collection stayed in their bedroom long after they both passed away and long after the vacant house slowly started to fall apart.

On my recent trip to Manila, my sister said that she is finally taking Mom's perfume collection from the house.

A week later, my sister texted me that Mom had two perfumes that were for Homme. Must have been Dad's. She said that she reserved it for John, our second son. I was surprised that she chose John to give it to. Maybe because John shared the same birthday with Mom.

Then it dawned on me that John also had a perfume collection! My sister never knew about it. Must have been Mom who nudged my sister to save it for John, as she could have given it to her husband, her son, my husband, or any of my other sons.

And she didn't.
