St. Therese of Lisiuex: Week 1

I am reposting this St. Therese story for the first of the nine weeks leading to her feast day on October 1. If you'd like to get some roses, ask St. Therese!
Last year, I had a heated argument with a friend over the phone. Like most misunderstandings, it came completely out of the blue. I felt so indignant that she wouldn't even listen to my side of the story.
As I hung up, I thought to myself, "I will not be calling her for a long, long time."
But almost instantly, St. Thérèse came to mind. I remembered how she personified humility and meekness. Before I knew it, the gentle nudge to make things right began to push past my pride. I was almost surprised at how quickly my heart softened. I relented and told myself I would give her a call in a few days.
Later that very same day, someone dropped by our house and brought me a stunning bouquet of white roses! For no apparent reason.
My heart nearly burst. I knew inside that St. Thérèse was reassuring me that I was on the right path.
And why white, of all colors? When I looked up the meaning of white roses, I found they symbolize purity, honesty, and new beginnings. No other color could have been more perfect.
Thank you, St. Thérèse, for your heartfelt support.
And for teaching me how to let go.
