*This story is the first of a 9-day series on St. Therese's promise of helping those in need manifested mostly through a shower of roses.

Today September 23 is the feast day of Padre Pio, a beloved saint.

Today (or was it yesterday?) also happens to be the first day of most 9-day novenas to St. Therese of Lisieux.

Two nights ago, I thought I will add a personal touch to this tradition by sharing one wonderful experience of answered prayers by St. Therese daily for nine days. Hope you enjoy the stories.

Last year, I had a heated argument with a friend over the phone. As with most of these misunderstandings, it came as a bolt out of the blue. I was indignant that the person did not even listen to my side of the story. As I ended the call, I thought, "I will not be calling this person for a long, long time."

Then, the thought of St. Therese came to mind almost instantly. I recalled how she personified humility. I was actually shocked that the idea of calling the person came to me. I ultimately relented and told myself I was going to ring the friend in a few days.

Later that day, someone came to the house and very stunningly brought me a bouquet of white roses!

My heart almost burst knowing that St. Therese wants me to know that I was on the right path. And why of all colors, white? As I googled the color, white is often associated with purity, perfection, honesty, and beginnings. No other color would have been right.

Thank you for the heartfelt support, St. Therese.
