On Certainty in Life

They say that there are two certain things in life: death and taxes.

I’ll add a third: change.

Change is a part of life. It’s something we often don’t look forward to because it requires adjustment and coping on our part. (Remember Newton's Law of Motion where an object at rest tends to stay at rest?)

In our city, a builder proposed a huge new mall in the middle of an already busy commercial area. There were numerous protests and the issue was put on a vote. The result was 49-51, with the project moving forward.

Ten years later, the shopping mall is a popular destination for both locals and visitors from surrounding cities. Everyone seems to be happy with the decision.

When Jesus began his ministry, the Pharisees did everything they could to kill Jesus. They didn't want the change that Jesus brought to their authority. The Pharisees succeeded, but did not realize that Jesus' truth would continue to spread throughout the world over the next 2,000 years.

What change are you considering these days?
