St. Francis of Assisi

Isn't it a blessing to learn something new and good?

I knew St. Francis was from a wealthy family, and he gave it all up after God manifested Himself to him. What I did not know was the life Francis led before his conversion. His biography states that he was a rebellious youth and spent his early years in worldly indulgences - food, drinking and wild parties.

When I think of the saints, I think of those who were holy and pious their entire lives. I easily forget about the Mary Magdalenes, St. Augustines and St. Francises of this world. People who transformed themselves through the grace of God.

Let us remember what Jesus tells us, "that heaven would be joyful for the return on one lost sheep."

Heaven must have been infinitely ecstatic over the return

of these lost sheep.
