On his feast day today, let me share a friend's story on Padre Pio.
My friend's father was going to have surgery for severe gastrointestinal bleeding in Manila. She was praying with her son to Padre Pio at her Los Angeles home. "Padre Pio, please visit my father as you visited the sick when you were alive and heal him."
While praying, the phone rang. It was her sister in Manila. "Where are you?" she asked.
My friend answered, "I'm still here in Los Angeles."
Her sister replied, "We can hear your prayers to Padre Pio for our father here in the ICU!" The following day, the doctors told their family that the procedure is canceled as there was no more bleeding.
My friend was filled with thanksgiving for the blessing from Padre Pio.
