On Earth Day

During an early morning drive, I saw the driver in front of me extend her arm outside the window to throw what it seemed like a cigarette butt.

I instantly recalled our grade school teacher admonishing us not to throw things outside the car. “The world is not a trash can. Keep your trash inside the car and dispose of them when you get home.”

Those words still ring in my head.

We have been given a beautiful planet, a blessed country.

Let us remember to take care of everything that has been given to us... starting with even the smallest things.
