Presidents' Day

Presidents' Day originally commemorated George Washington's birthday in 1885. It later combined Lincoln's birthday on Feb. 12 with Washington's birthday on Feb. 22. Presidents' Day now celebrates all presidents - past, present and future. It's observed on the third Monday of February and gives most workers a three-day weekend.

But the spirit of this holiday contrasts with the contentious issues of each presidency — from the beginning of the union to the present.

That's why we need to pray for guidance for our country's leaders and for the protection and espousal of truth.

For is that not what Jesus has always stood for?
