On Hugging and Parenting

Hugging is a parenting mechanism that seems underutilized, especially as the child grows older.
We love hugging toddlers and young children, but hugging seems to taper off once our children become teenagers.
I don't think it’s the parents. Children seem to shy away from it.
Don’t be fooled. Hug them anyway. Not a quick hug, but a big bear hug. We just have to initiate it, most especially when there's space between us.
Hug when there doesn't seem to be a way to get through them.
If it doesn’t seem to work the first time. Try again.
This is one of the times when persistence pays.
