Have you read or watched “The Hobbit”?
There’s a creature named Gollum who played riddle games with the hobbit Bilbo Baggins who was lost in a maze. In the final riddle, if Gollum wins, he gets to eat Bilbo. (Yes, EAT. It's not a typo.) If Bilbo wins, Gollum shows him the way out of the maze.
Here’s the riddle:
This thing all things devours;
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers; Gnaws iron, bites steel; Grinds hard stones to meal; Slays king, ruins town, And beats mountain down.
Do you remember the answer? (It’s not a clock!)
Give up? The answer is TIME.
God has given all of us this precious gift of time. This is one gift that can’t be replaced. Money can be recouped, beauty can be reconstructed, health can be restored, and emotional pain can be healed, but nothing can bring back time.
So let’s use our time wisely. We’re only given one chance to use every second of it.
And while on this life’s journey, let’s not forget to thank our Creator for this wonderful gift!
