When God is Good

It's Sunday morning, and I was texting someone when I misspelled the word "Good." Instead, I texted God. Then I realize that there's just one letter that differentiates the two words. And it is so easy to make that mistake, and meaningfully, the two words are so close.

But I thought about it and realized that really, all good things come from God. So it seems fitting to have the two words close together. Who knows how the word good really came to be?

Later that day while driving, I saw the van ahead of us lean to its left. Then I saw a motorcyclist pass by, and as he did, he stretched out his hand to gesture his appreciation. The van then went back to the center of the lane. At that moment, I felt I saw goodness on the freeway. I thought about God. Where else can this kindness and goodness come from?

As it is said, the fruits of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. There it is! It felt deeply wonderful seeing this goodness in action. On the freeway.

And such happenstance that today is the Feast of the Blessed Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, all of whom guide us to see and reflect the goodness in this world.
