October celebrations

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Can you believe that we're entering the fourth quarter of 2020 in about a week! A friend couldn't wait for the year to end, what with Covid, riots, fires and earthquake in the West Coast, and recently, the shootings of civilians and officers.

Wanting to focus on the bright side, I thought of the beautiful things in October, one of which is celebrating several of my favorite saints and our guardian angels.

October 1 is the Feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. You know, the saint who said that she will "shower roses" after her death. She keeps that promise to this day.

On October 2, we celebrate the Feast of the Guardian Angels. I thank them for all the times they have kept our family safe. Then we have St. Francis of Assisi (4th), St. Faustina (5th), St. Teresa of Avila (15th), St. Jude (28th), to name a few. October is also the month of the Holy Rosary.

Maybe this is why October usually makes me feel mellow outside while celebratory and jubilant on the inside. Perhaps because it is also the start of fall. A time of calm after the activities of summer and before the busyness of the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.

But this year is different with elections around the corner. There is a lot of negativity and polarity going around. Thank heavens for angels and the communion of saints. I can enter their world and feel the peace that only Jesus can give.
