Live with the End in Mind

Last week, my consciousness awakened to the thought that our life on earth is limited, and that we do not know when our dear Lord will call us. (Yes, I've known this for the longest time, but it just stays as a thought.) Though I try to live life with what I think makes God happy, I realized that there is no urgency in my actions. I act as if I will live a hundred years.

In a little over two years I will be 65, and I wondered how I could make the most out of that time. Well, I thought that sharing God's love is probably how I'll spend my time. Then I said my morning prayers.

Lo and behold! A light came from my phone, signaling a text message. It was from a dear aunt. She sent a video explaining why we should live with the end in mind! I think God was sneaking into my thoughts.

It said that we should not invest our hours in creating material riches for ourselves since we cannot take any of those with us when we die. (Nothing new.) We should instead invest in relationships. I once read that on our deathbed, we will be thinking not of things but of people. Of course I've heard this many times. But as in most times, it goes in one ear and leaves the other.

I got out of my jammies with a stronger purpose given my hopefully imaginary limited time.

I'm excited for what things I can do to spread God's love today!

Then these words came to me, instead of "Live with the end in mind," the words came out as "Live with God in mind."
