It's a Month to FD!

Mother's Day just ended. I took advantage of the day and slept at midnight. I wanted to relish everything that happened yesterday. (I'm writing this the Monday after.)

How was your Mother's Day? Did your children make you breakfast? Not mine. In our household, I am my husband's mother on MD at breakfast. I always remember him buying me my breakfast fave - McDo Egg McMuffin on Mother's Day. When was the last time you had one? It's pretty good considering they had a BOGO sale only for Mother's Day.

Paul and I have three boys, so I have nailed it in my head to have pretty low expectations during special occasions. Like birthdays and Mother's Day. (I believe it's the girls who do the sweet and sugary things for their parents.) And guess what? I have always been disappointed! The boys give such well-thought out gifts! (My rule is nothing expensive so the occasion does not get to be a burden.) I got a book from a favorite writer, a couple of plants that I love, and a slow cooker! I remember one year I just asked them for a MD card! Those were my best gifts.

So I think one trick is to have low expectations in life so as not to get disappointed. Now, that doesn't mean I don't subscribe to doing one's best because I am a firm believer in that. What I am saying is we should focus on the effort, and let the outcome speak for itself. Instead of the other way around. What do you think?

Father's Day is just a little over a month away. We have all the time to prepare for the special fathers in our lives. I hope they have low expectations so their day will turn out the best too!
